Find the Best Bike Rack for your Car: Your Ultimate Bicycle Racks Resource

Below you will find, what in our view are, the top 5 bike racks on the market. We've reviewed each one, taking into account ease of installation, build quality, design and price/value for money and given each of those categories a score. We've based this on both personal experience, as well as trawling through various bike rack stores on the internet to find what other people are saying and complaints they may have, in order to save you the time and trouble of doing it yourself.

We also try to include some useful videos and tips within each review, so if there are any shortcomings to any of the bike racks, then we can provide a work around.

You can click through to each of the full reviews below, or you can search for your perfect bicycle rack by using the search tool at the top of this page.

We've not got every single cycle rack reviewed at the moment, but we are constantly building the site. In the future we aim to have lots of different cycling resources on the site, so this will be your one stop shop.

Thule Euroway G2

Thule Euroway G2

Whilst not the cheapest cycle carrier on the market, this is a case of getting what you pay for. The Thule Euroway is possibly the best option for a towbar mounted cycle carrier on the market. Installation couldn't be simpler and bikes are held securely. I can't rave enough about the Thule One Key system, which saves carrying multiple keys around. The only drawback is having to have a towbar fitted on your car, which many cars already have for carrying trailers.

Thule Hangon 9708

Thule Hangon 9708

This is a well made quality product. It is difficult to tilt the rack to allow boot access when it is fully loaded but that is a problem common to most racks. Some people have commented that the rack tends to sway a little when travelling with four bikes on rough roads but again this is to be expected. In general there have been considerably more favourable comments about this rack than unfavourable ones. Thule also sell accessories such as light boards and locks from bike to carrier or carrier to car if needed.

Thule 970 Xpress

Thule 970 Xpress

For the price, this is a good sturdy bike rack which is extremely easy to install to a towbar. It is slightly let down by the requirement to use a frame adapter in order to fit certain bikes, but this is reflected in the price.

Thule Outride 561

Thule Outride 561

Designed for expensive carbon fibre bikes, whilst this bike rack may be more expensive than others, it is worth the extra if you have a carbon frame. As with all Thule products, build quality is good, but bear in mind that if you have disc brakes, you may need to invest in a separate bike lock in order to lock the bike to the frame.

Thule Freeride 532

Thule Freeride 532

This is a quality bike rack at a reasonable price. You need to take care if you own a tall car and also make sure you lock your wheels up if you ride with expensive wheels, but other than that I would highly recommend this piece of kit.
